Red and white. Lovely contrast.
Red Velvet is traditionally a Christian wedding cake. But now it's widely popular and enjoyed at any times, wedding or no wedding. It seems to be a rage among my friends right now, so, I decided this will be an awesome way to start my cakes business again. Tomorrow, first day of selling. :3
Pray for my success yeah?
45g brown sugar
100g flour (sifted, thrice )
1 tsp of baking powder
1tbsp cocoa powder
Bright red food colouring
. Cream the butter and sugar until it's light and fluffy
. Add in the eggs one by one, beating well each time ( about 5 minutes for each egg )
. Fold in the flour, baking powder and cocoa powder. Folding is a technique used to incorporate air into the mixture, to ensure it rises when it bakes, and the texture fluffy and light. It's very different from stirring or mixing. Hmm. I wish I could show you this.
. Add in as much food colouring as needed to get the right brightnedd of red. About 2tsp should do, I think.
. Spoon then into the paper cups and bake for about 10 minutes on 150'c
. Leave to cool. Decorate with white butter cream frosting.
Happy baking, people ! :3
